Mississippi Reading Fair

The Office of Elementary Education and Reading is pleased to announce the Mississippi Reading Fair Competition. The state reading fair provides students in Pre-K through twelfth the opportunity to share their favorite book through a storyboard display or digital presentation.

For Students/Teachers/Parents:

Student Guidelines includes Reading Fair categories, storyboard and digital presentation information, Reading Fair timeline, graphic organizers, and step-by-step guides to each category.

Student Project Checklists helps students, parents, and teachers double check that all elements are present on the Reading Fair presentation. These are not required.

Student Forms are required to be turned in at the school level and travel with the student throughout the competition. The Photograph/Video Permission Form is required at every level. The Accommodation Form is only required if a student needs accommodations throughout the competition.

Reading Fair Standards connects each Reading Fair task to the Mississippi Department of Education’s College-and Career-Ready Standards and the American Association of School Librarian Standards for the 21st-Century Learner.

For Reading Fair Coordinators:

Coordinator Guidelines includes Reading Fair categories, storyboard and digital presentation information, Reading Fair timeline, hosting a reading fair, judging procedures, and judging rubrics.

Reading Fair Check In Sheet Template can be used throughout the Reading Fair competition to double check all students’ names, school districts, and project titles. This is a writable PDF.

Reading Fair Project Labels Template can be used to label the tables to help students find where their projects need to be set up. This is a writable PDF.

Sample Agenda Template can be used throughout the Reading Fair competition to let students, parents, caregivers, and visitors know the schedule of the competition and a map of the competition area.

Student Project Labels Template can be used to label the actual presentation. This should be placed on the back center of the storyboard and on the back of the laptop or tablet used for digital presentations.

Winner Form - School Level is to be used to turn winners into the School District Reading Fair Coordinator. All information should be accurate and complete. This is a writable PDF.

Winner Form - District Level is to be used to complete information on the Reading Fair Portal to send in winners to the Regional Reading Fair Coordinator. This is a writable PDF.

Winner Form - Regional Level is to be used to turn in Elizabeth Simmons at Mississippi Department of Education for the State Reading Fair competition. This is a writable PDF.
